“ Turnpike played the festival years ago , so it ’ s a special honor to get to come back and be with all the good people in Guthrie for this bluegrass show ,” he said .
Shooter Jennings recently sat behind a piano on a handful of larger than life Turnpike Troubadours shows , one which included Oklahoma ’ s own Zac Bryan , and a bluegrass guitarist by the name of Billy Strings .
“ Shooter has more knowledge of music and arranging music than anybody I know . He ’ s so well-versed on music in general ,” reflects Felker . “ Other than those times we have Shooter with us , we ’ re the same band in 2024 as we were in 2014 , so it ’ s great to be able to have a really big asset like Shooter in our band on stage and in the
studio ,” Felker said .
This is not the first time in the recent past that Felker has performed with a bluegrass unit ; a handful of private events brought Thomas Trapp , Steven Moore , David Beckman and Tony Spatz together to accompany the Okemah native , but this public offering will be a rare opportunity to see Felker ’ s craft in a different light .
“ Steven and Thomas and those guys are so good at what they do , and so fun to play music with ,” stated Felker , “ and the weather Guthrie is just downright nice that time of the year !”
