T he 23rd Annual Random Band Jam is near . Just like Jake and Elwood put it , better known as The Blues Brothers , “ We ’ re on a mission from God !” Yes , ladies and gentlemen , it ’ s time to get the bands back together on the Byron Berline Stage !
“ That ’ s why Random Band Jam was created ”, says Founding Chair , Jean Wiles . “ We wanted to give everyone at the festival an opportunity to perform on the main stage with their musical heroes .” “ It does not matter how talented you are ”, says Co-Chair , Leatha Pierce . “ It gives everyone a chance to shine .”
To be a part of Random Band Jam , sign up Thursday from noon to 8:00 pm at the Random Band Jam Sign Up table located just beyond the audience at the Byron Berline Main Stage . Look for the “ Jim Paul Blair ’ s Random Band Jam ” Banner . Put your name in the jar labeled with your instrument of choice , from guitar to bass to vocal to “ other ”— who knows what that will be … harmonica , saw , shaker egg ?! Random names are pulled from the jars to form bands , so be back by 9:30 p . m . to meet your bandmates . Each band will have roughly 20 minutes to practice two songs , come up with a band name and get ready to hit the stage !
Participants will be welcomed to the stage by committee members , Kelly Kroh , Vinnie and Glenna Robinson , Roy and Melody Korth , and Jim Paul Blair ’ s infamous Fun Girls , Jean Wiles and Leatha Pierce . Emceeing the event this year , is Jim ’ s all time favorite gal , Katey Blair , along with world famous Bluesman , George Barton .
Participants will receive a highly collectible button and guitar pick representing this year ’ s Blues Brothers Theme . Who knows , there may be a surprise appearance by The Blues Brothers , but what we do know is that Random Band Jam will feature both kinds of music …. bluegrass and more bluegrass !! IBF
