THUNDERBIRD AAAA STARS & STRIPES POKER RUN
Get Ready! Thunderbirds are bringing
the noise on July 7
It’s year three for Quad A Thunderbird
Stars and Stripes Poker Run, it’s one
of the hottest tickets around, and if you
need another good reason to participate
we have many: the guys who organize
this event are so busy keeping us safe,
we had trouble finding them (one is
deployed and the other was in western
Oklahoma fighting wildfires). The Poker
Run is a fundraiser to help military per-
sonnel, but these people are so giving,
they’ve worked hard to make your expe-
rience something truly memorable.
Quad A organizers (Army Aviation As-
sociation of America: they help soldiers’
families with education and contribute
to the annual Aviation Military Ball) is
prepared for 2018 and with wallet-fat-
tening prizes and a ride in a Blackhawk
helicopter to a few lucky people. We’re
betting high that Quad A has a few
surprises for 2018’s Run, but they are
so busy keeping us safe, they haven’t
had time to chat!
It happens July 7, starts at the Okla-
homa National Guard Armory (4242 N.
Mingo Valley Expy), we hear it ends at
Drillers Field (where everyone gets to
ride around the ballpark) and Quad A is
planning more for 2018. See what’s up
on their Facebook page: www.face-
book.com/events/140555126654100
or on the web (thunderbirdaaaa.org/
poker-run). They kept the buy-in at $25
with $20 for additional hands and riders
(every donation gets a chance at the
Blackhawk ride; if you can’t be there,
please help Quad A help others). Call
oklahoma biker the riders ragazine
(918) 832-6500 for more.
And please keep our Oklahoma Nation-
al Guard in your thoughts and prayers
while many of them are deployed else-
where keeping us safe at home.
Reasons to help Quad A: There
are OK National Guard members who
proudly serve our great nation and their
children can’t afford to go to college,
EVEN THOUGH they have the grades,
test scores and requirements needed to
attend! Quad A donates funds from the
Poker Run to a committee that selects
top students and gifts them money to
help with tuition, books, housing ex-
penses and any other needs. But that’s
not all; Quad A helps so many Oklaho-
ma Guard troops and their families, all
the funds raised go to great causes, so
bring a friend (or 50) and get ready for
some great times.
