Ride the hills to Spavinaw ’ s Copperhead Run Rally
By Tank
Mark your calendars for June 1-4 , because it ’ s time again for the Copperhead Run Rally !
For those of you who haven ’ t been or never heard of it , shame on you - you ’ re definitely missing out on a fantastic rally ! This is truly one of the last old-school , down-to-earth bike rallies left around . I ’ m glad to see that the owners , Travis and Kamcia Montgomery , have developed and upgraded this rally each and every year without turning it into a commercialized joke of a “ we just want your money ” kind of event that most bike runs have turned into .
This is the 10 th year of the rally and I can say I ’ ve made at least an appearance at every one of them . This is an awesome venue that sprawls out over 200 acres that are nestled in the Spavinaw Hills . From the humble beginnings in 2008 , to the present rally , I ’ ve seen great improvements and upgrades each and every time I go back . This run has grown at a steady , but sensible pace ; they have added RV hook ups , a shower house and indoor bathrooms ….. yes , real shitters that flush ! ( You don ’ t have to use a porta john ). The bar at the front gate ( known to regulars as the “ Inside ” Bar ) has been around since the beginning and the Burnout Bar was added a few years ago . With 2 bars , there ’ s not much of a wait to get a beverage . Come out early and get your camp site set up . There ’ s plenty of room to throw a tent down on the 35 acres of available tent camping space , and if you ’ re one of those trailer queens they have 55 electrical hook ups for your toy hauler or RV . Once the primo spots are taken , you ’ ll have to drag your own power source .
The fun gets started around 8 p . m . on Thursday , June 1 , featuring live entertainment with Kenny Babb playing in the indoor bar and T-3opening up the festivities outside slinging Blues , Classic Rock and a splash of classic Country at the Burnout Bar . Friday hosts more fun and music and Saturdays ’ line has the standard issue of bike games through the afternoon hours along with Copperhead ’ s very own “ Dirt Drags ” ( that ’ s right , run what ya brung ) and see how your scoot holds up on the sled pull ! Saturday night rounds out with more quality entertainment .
The bar is open on the weekends ( Friday through Sunday ) if you ’ re just out riding and feel the need to have a beer and a break . It ’ s always good to support a place that supports the riding community . Copperhead also host rallies for UTV ’ s / ATV ’ s / side-by-sides or whatever you call those things , and is available to host your event . You can find them and follow them on Facebook @ copperheadrunrally .
This is a 21 and over rally , and leave your pets at home .
