current middle and high school Latin teachers have a passion like no other, and
their love for Classics is infectious. Hearing them makes me want to learn more
about Classics and find subjects I love. In addition, OJCL officers work hard to
bring you a fun, entertaining set of colloquia every year at convention. This usually
includes Classics
in the movies and
the JCL Kahoot!
(Seriously the JCL
Kahoot! is
amazing). There is
also new
colloquium this
year for local
presidents run by
your OJCL
President. I am
looking forward to
implementing this
new idea because I

believe it will be a good
way to spread ideas for
local Latin Club leaders.
Colloquia can be the highlight of your weekend at state convention,
especially the service colloquium. Service is a hallmark of our great organization,
and the service colloquium is always one of the most popular at State Convention.
It is a great atmosphere of people helping the community while having the
opportunity to socialize and get to know others. I encourage you, if you go to State
Convention (I hope I will see all of you there!) to try some colloquia and see what
sparks your interest, because you never know how great of a time you could have.
