It’s like French Toast without the toast, or hot chocolate without the chocolate. It’s a little bland and tastes like sweetened milk. I think it would go well with berries or honey. It was very easy to make, though it was hard to make almond shapes. I eventually gave up and cut them into little triangles. This was a modern variation of the recipe, but it wasn’t that different from Apicius’s original recipe. His omitted sugar, lemon, and bread crumbs and was meant to be served with honey, but I think this version is still very similar to the original in regards to flavor. The bread crumbs do make it look a little bit like breaded chicken. All in all, this was a fine recipe. I enjoyed eating it a lot more than I thought I would enjoy eating creamed wheat. It’s better than most Roman Recipes. 8/10.
