10 Best Things to Do at OJCL Convention South Gubernator Ryan Burns, Summit Country Day 10 9 8 7 Watch Certamen: Watching this fast-paced, action-packed sport at state convention is a great way to spend your time, especially if you want to be a great certamen player in the future. Watching certamen is also a great way to meet new friends because the players and other spectators share your love for classics. Go to the Dance: The Dance at OJCL convention is an amazing experience. While it is not quite as fun as NJCL dances, the DJ still plays some good music and Latin nerds, contrary to popular belief, are pretty good dancers. Go to Meet the Candidates: Meet the Candidates is a great event that helps delegates get to know the candidates running for OJCL office better. In addition, there is one funny question asked to each candidate, so people get some good laughs at this event. Watch JCL’s Got Talent: This talent show is one that you won’t want to miss. I’ve seen everything from wookie impressions to singing in Italian. You never know what will happen at JCL’s Got Talent! 6 Go to colloquia: On Saturday afternoon at OJCL convention, the OJCL officers and professors from around Ohio run sessions of fun, informational events such as OJCL trivia or Roman Armor. These colloquia are a great way for OJCLers to learn a lot while having fun. 5 Eat at the Roman Banquet: The Roman Banquet is one of the best times to relax at convention because there is great food and a bunch of tables in a big room, and you just sit and talk to your friends. Also, it’s always fun to put on a toga and act like a Roman. 4 3 2 1 Take some tests: This may sound boring, but it is a great way to earn school points, and you get to show off your knowledge and hard work. The three testing sessions are always very crowded, and it’s fun to hear someone you know get called up for not bubbling in their student ID correctly. Arrive at convention: Arriving is one of the best parts of convention because you know that you have a great weekend ahead filled with fun-filled classics activities. Arrival is also a great time to relax before the big weekend because you will need your rest in order to fully take advantage of all the fun. Take a shower: Please as a courtesy and a general rule, shower every day. Play certamen: Playing certamen is the most exhilarating and exciting experience OJCL convention can give to a delegate. The friendly competition and excitement of a good buzz never fails to put a smile on people’s faces.
