This year we accomplished a huge amount in the Shaker Heights Latin club! We elected 5 new officers (Brian, Vishnu, Kate, Rachel, and Julia), and then appointed 6 more (Amelia, Olivia, Blake, Meredith, Sam, and myself). The new officers got to work, and we sent an impressive 13 students to NJCL 2016, including then-NJCL Historian Hannah Barrett, OJCL Secretary Vishnu Kasturi, and OJCL President Brian Johnson. Shaker students placed incredibly at NJCL, earning 27 top 10 places at various events. When the school year began, though most were sad to not have the graduated seniors at our meetings, we were introducted to an impressive crop of 9th graders who quickly showed their dedication to Shaker and the JCL. We sent a busload of students to Fall Forum down at Columbus Academy, which was unanimously agreed to be a success despite the lack of a Ludi event. North Gubernator and Shaker delegate Blake Himes organized this year's MADD, cleaning up the area around a lake in Shaker. Our treasurers Rachel Brunot and Kate Voyzey organized a pizza/blanket making party for Project Linus, where we made 6 blankets for children in hospitals. Overall, all of these events were complete successes!
