Masculine

Maximus- The meaning of the word "maximus" in Latin is "greatest," so what a fitting name to call your future son! Besides that, the name can be shortened to the more modern name Max. Imagine how cool it would be to tell somebody that your full name is actually calling you the greatest!

Marcus- Marcus is a fairly common modern name, but it has its roots in Ancient Rome. In addition to being the praenomen of quite a few notable Romans, it's also related to Mars, the god of war. It's a great name to make your kid sound tough!

Bennett- The

name Bennett is

derived from

the Latin

word

"benedictus"

meaning

"blessed."

Wouldn't

it be great to have a

kid that's always

#blessed?

Augustus- Not only was Augustus the first emperor of Ancient Rome, but the word "augustus" also means "majestic" or "dignified." Too long of a name for you? Call him Gus!

Tullus- Name your kid Tullus! After all, who wouldn't want to be named after the militant and great ruler...OJCL parliamentarian Tullus Dean?

Feminine

Amanda- "Amanda" is the verb "amo, amare" in the gerundive form, so it's translated as "to be loved." It's a cute and fairly common name, but only we JCLers will realize its true meaning.

Cara- Your daughter will be a dear! Why not name her that? "Cara" means "dear" in Latin, as well as "beloved." What a fitting name for your dear, beloved daughter!

Celeste- Although this name is technically French, it's derived from the Latin word "caelestis" meaning "heavenly." With that name meaning, you can tell everybody that your kid is an angel, and you'll mean it too!

Lucia- Does your kid brighten your day? She should have a name that reflects just how bright she is! Lucia is an Italian name that comes from the Latin word "lux" meaning "light." With a name like that, your daughter is sure to keep shining!

Celine- Celine is another name that's French, but again it has its Latin root of "caelum" meaning "sky." Who knows...maybe your child will be really into meteorology in the future?
