18 The third step might be the most nerve-wracking for some people: giving your speech during general assembly. This is where you’ll proclaim your goals and explain why you are a qualified candidate. You should have a thirty second introduction by a peer; after that, you’ll walk across the stage for a quick hug, return to your podium, and begin! Speaking in front of so many people is understandably a bit crazy, but I promise that everyone is rooting for you. This is meant to be a fun experience, so revel in the chaos! Looking back on this year’s state convention, I am pleased to know I got the most out of my JCL experience, and I truly think that anyone reading this should do the same. Running for office is a beyond worthwhile experience, and even if it doesn’t work out, you can take pride in knowing that you did your best. Age quod agis! Sincerely, Emma Davis North Gubernator Emma (middle row, third from left) with the Medina delegation at States!
