The third step might be the most nerve-wracking for some
people: giving your speech during general assembly. This is where
you’ll proclaim your goals and explain why you are a qualified
candidate. You should have a thirty second introduction by a peer;
after that, you’ll walk across the stage for a quick hug, return to
your podium, and begin! Speaking in front of so many people is
understandably a bit crazy, but I promise that everyone is rooting for
you. This is meant to be a fun experience, so revel in the chaos!
Looking back on this year’s state convention, I am pleased to
know I got the most out of my JCL experience, and I truly think that
anyone reading this should do the same. Running for office is a
beyond worthwhile experience, and even if it doesn’t work out, you
can take pride in knowing that you did your best. Age quod agis!
Sincerely,
