Summit and Wellington Italy & Greece Trip
This past summer I accompanied 40 or so Latin and non-Latin students from Summit and Wellington across the Atlantic on a 10-day tour of Italy and Greece . While there I learned so much more about the ancient world , not even mentioning the awe I felt standing in-person in front of some of the most famous landmarks of Ancient Greece and Rome which I have studied for the past 6 years . We were given the amazing opportunity to tour the Forum Romanum , Ancient Pompeii , Ancient Delphi and the Temple of Apollo , and the Athenian Acropolis . Between the walking tours and the 102 degree heat , one of the best parts was spending a week surrounded by fellow classics-lovers and embarking on this adventure together .

I know that we made lifelong memories , despite our many shenanigans . However , one thing in particular planted itself in my mind while traversing the cobbled paths of the Palatine Hill : the people who laid these bricks , who walked on the same path I was walking on , the people whose names were never recorded in anthologies of history or had their name preserved through time , the people who literally built the foundations of one of the greatest civilizations in all of history . They all had lives , had families , had their own story , and somehow , in some way , by standing on the cobbles they dedicated their life to laying , I felt that I had a true connection to the ancient world in a way I never had before , and I think that is definitely worth sharing .
