#3 Cum should have one meaning. When used in different ways cum can mean with, when, because, since, or although. PICK ONE. I don't particularly care which meaning cum has, but it should only have one meaning. #4 Liberi, liber, and liber again. These Latin words mean very different things: children, free, and book. This has caused some translation difficulties. In the beginning years of Latin, I could not understand why so many writings were about freedom. In reality, there were a lot of writings about children, though considerably less about books. Two of these words need to change to lessen the confusion of Latin students everywhere. #5 Sum and volo/nolo should be the only irregular verbs. Irregular verbs subvert all of the very nice and structured rules regarding how to form a normal verb. I can make an exception for sum. It is such a basic verb, meaning "I am", so it deserves to be special. And I just really like volo/nolo. I don't know why, and I can't explain it, but volo and nolo are just really great verbs, even with their irregularity. However, all of the other irregular verbs need to go. Although there are things that I would change about Latin, there are so many more that I wouldn't. I love "are, avi, atus" verbs, and I have a special place in my heart for perfect active tense. 18
