Troy Story: You’ve Got a Friend in Me
John Brady, St. Eds
Salvete, OJCL,
My name is John Brady, and I am a senior at St Edward
High School. This year the 2017 NJCL Convention was held at
Troy University in Troy, Alabama.
This year, as a play on words we came up with Troy Story:
You’ve Got a Friend in Me.
I think that finally, after 3 national conventions, I
understand this on a new level. Every year at convention we meet
new people, whether they be from your own delegation or even
another delegation. You even get to reconnect with old friends.
This year I had the pleasure to reconnect with some
people I met at my first convention. We kept in touch through
the years and met up at convention. I also had the pleasure to
meet new people in the OJCL. I even learned more about some
of the people I already knew.
That’s the thing about convention: don’t be afraid. Go
meet new people. You will find out that someone will share
something in common with you. And everyone there, whether it
is their first convention or even their third, has a sense of family.
Many people claim that the JCL is their classics family.
So, go out and meet new people at convention. You never
know, some of these people might become your best friends.
In this regard, shout out to Gabe, Jordan, Aquila, Grant,
Joseph, the entire New Mexico Delegation (Garrett), and my
brothers from St Eds for making convention great.
Valete, Omnes!
