Invitation to Fall Forum by Joseph Delamerced, OJCL President
Mini-convention. But with Ludi. This is Fall Forum, an event that will take place on Saturday, October 7 at the Columbus Academy. Last year, nearly 100 students traveled to the Columbus Academy for our inaugural event. It was a day of engaging workshops, a light-hearted Open Certamen, an incredibly creative Impromptu Art session, and much more. After the overwhelming success of our Forum, we’ re bringing it back this year. And it’ s better than ever.
For one, there will be Ludi: Capture the Flag and Ultimate Frisbee. We have resolved timing issues and have ensured these games will be held in the day. We hope to build on our Ultimate success at Nationals and have a fun competition! Furthermore, we will provide complimentary morning and afternoon snacks. And moreover, we have a special colloquium from JCL alumna Sasha Parks, in which students will work in teams to build warp-weighted looms from scratch and weave a small sample.
The fan-favorite Impromptu Art will return, as will our comedic Creative Arts passages. Teams work in small groups to build the most creative and artistic representation of a certain theme, which will be provided at the competition. A variety of fun awards, including for creativity, humor, and hyperrealism( to name a few), will be given to winning teams! Our Creative Arts sessions are sight readings of amusing passages. This year, the Latin text will be written by State Chair Mr. Dean, and the English oratory will be composed by North Gubernator Owen Kranz.
But most importantly, Fall Forum is a time to reconnect with your friends. It’ s the kickoff to our JCL year. I hope that you join me, the rest of the Executive Board, and many more clubs( including many new chapters!) at this year’ s Fall Forum.
The 2nd Annual Fall Forum will take place on Saturday, October 7 at the Columbus Academy.
