RECLAIM YOUR ZEN AT
FALLS CREEK
Dianne Galea heads to Falls Creek, where she gains a new perspective
on life, happiness and the importance of slowing down.
ere’s some background on me.
I’ve made a transition in life after
being a professional photographer for 17
years, to a recently qualified personal
trainer. I’m loving the change, as fitness
has always been my passion. I like
running the most – actually no, I love
running! In fact, I love running so much
that last year I ran four ultras and a
marathon. To be honest, I find it hard to
slow down (let alone sit still!) and I don’t
really sleep much.

When I was invited to attend a yoga
retreat in Falls Creek Victoria, my instant
reaction was ‘mmmm, I don’t really like
yoga.’ For me, it’s too slow, I can’t get
my heart rate up, and if I’m brutally
honest I’d rather be doing lunges or
squats! Neither my mind or my body
enjoys being quiet!
That all said, I know that slowing down
is exactly what I needed. So I said ‘yes’
and decided to keep an open mind and
embrace whatever the time away brought
my way! Also, I’d seen pictures of the
running
trails
(which
looked
breathtaking), and I was excited about
going somewhere new.

to the airport after barely any sleep; the
plane is delayed because of technical
difficulties, and I’m running late – and I
hate being late for things!
I am greeted at Falls Creek with some
very big smiles from Rachel and Bill,
who run Falls Creek Yoga Retreats. I
instantly feel comfortable with them. Jo
the marketing manager from Falls Creek
Resort Management joins us for lunch
and I quickly pick up that they all really
love the area an
