Easy access to flu vaccine
Depression is rife among our population.
Watch (and share) this video to better
understand this often debilitating
condition.
Vaccines are an individual choice, so if
you are in the ‘pro’ boat when it comes to
flu vaccines then you’ll be happy to hear
that Chemmart® Pharmacy is offering a
one-stop in-store Flu Clinic for a six week
period from 24 March. The vaccine will
be administered by an accredited nurse
immuniser during set time periods at
200 Chemmart® Pharmacies nationally.
According to the Department of Health
and Ageing, flu viruses can spread easily
as they can survive for up to two days on
some hard surfaces, 30 minutes on
unwashed hands and for up to 12 hours
on cloth, paper and tissues*. For more
information, details and pricing go to
www.chemmart.com.au or visit your local
Chemmart® pharmacist.

Go meat-free for a week
Australians eat twice the recommended
dietary guidelines of meat (a whopping
average consumption of 113kg per
person per annum) and almost three
times as much as the world average. This
consumption compromises our health,
and with global meat production
predicted to double within six years, it
also raises serious concerns about longterm sustainability and animal welfare.
Participants of Meat Free Week (24 to 30
March) are sponsored to go without meat,
including seafood, for seven days in order
to raise funds for one of three leading
charities – Bowel Cancer Australia
(health), The Australian Conservation
Foundation (environment) and Voiceless,
the animal protection institute (animal
welfare).

Keep fruit such as apples, pears and
bananas away from the rest of your
produce as they naturally produce
ethylene gas, which will ripen the fruit
and vegetables around them – especially
if they’re in a closed environment such as
a crisper or sealed container. On the flip
side, if you want to ripen an avocado,
place it in a paper bag with a banana to
speed up the process.
