PAUL BROWN www.50sports.org ( Exercise Adherence ) DON’T PUT AN EXPIRATION DATE ON YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS Paul Brown recommends tossing away the timelines, for maximum results. s we all breathe a collective sigh of relief after yet another frantic Christmas holiday period, many of us may be lucky enough to possess gift cards to spend, or vouchers for some type of experience or product. It always amazes me why these gifts have expiration dates. After all, the money used to buy them does not expire as time passes; in cash terms the value of the gift diminishes through inflation. Perhaps the key here is the sense of urgency, designed to get you to take action and not let your valuable gift be forgotten, or that the product or service become unavailable. The same may be said for your health and fitness. It is a gift of immense value and, perhaps, the most important and valuable asset you will ever have. Not everyone enjoys the same gifts, but even those who can’t walk know and appreciate the value of their eyesight, just as those who cannot see recognise the importance of their hearing. Focus then, not on what you don’t have but, instead, make the most of what you do. Look after your body, because it is the only one you have. Be certain to avoid letting your gift expire or depreciate through neglect. In a world where daily life is built \
