And the image reflecting back on many Australians is of a person prepared to invest time, energy and money into their own health and wellbeing, as well as the global community’s. A This growing focus on both self and societal improvement has created the emergence of socially responsible, ethical brands who are operating as ‘profit-forpurpose’ enterprises. So who are these profit-for-purpose businesses and why do we want to support them? There are a number of great not-for-profit organisations in Australia and they, too, deserve our support; however, the profitfor-purpose approach has allowed businesses with philanthropic dreams to expand their operations using likeminded investors but without incurring a lot of the red tape that keeps the not-forprofits a bit, well, stuck.
