So who are these profit-for-purpose
businesses and why do we want to
support them?
There are a number of great not-for-profit
organisations in Australia and they, too,
deserve our support; however, the profitfor-purpose approach has allowed
businesses with philanthropic dreams to
expand their operations using likeminded investors but without incurring a
lot of the red tape that keeps the not-forprofits a bit, well, stuck. The theory is
that the more successful a business can
be, the more good it can do.
