In April there ’ ll be a selection race . At this point in time the qualifying standards haven ’ t been released yet , but I hope to get the year off to a great start by doing well there .’
For anyone considering trying their hand at triathlons , Charlotte offers these words of wisdom : ‘ Enjoy it ! Triathlon can be quite daunting as normally beginners come into the sport with a weakness – whether that be swimming , cycling or running . The triathlon community is so welcoming and encouraging , and there are always lots of people out there willing to give advice .’
When it comes to training , Charlotte says :
• ‘ Consistency is key !
• Practice your transitions in training .
• Find a group you can sometimes train with .
• Always consider your nutrition . What you eat is really important because you are what you put in . And always practice in training , what you plan to eat before / during a race . I ’ m a vegetarian and I find that the best diet for me , but you need to find what works well for you as everyone is different .’
