Fortunately, Jack had bought a fire flint
starter; dry tinder and a couple of strikes
is all it would take to ignite their fire…
or so they thought.
5. Work as a team
Twelve hours later and their fire was still
not lit. Sam and Jack persevered for
almost 20 hours, huddled over their
precious tinder, repeatedly striking the
flint without giving up. And eventually,
they produced a small ember, which
meant warmth, cooked food and drinking
water!
Two teams were unknowingly dropped
off in close proximity and when they
found themselves face-to-face they had
to make a decision to either continue as
two teams, or combine forces. They
decided to combine into a foursome and
so commenced one of the most gruelling
and mentally challenging episodes of
the season.
If they had given up, Sam and Jack
would not have survived.
There are multiple examples of
entrepreneurs, business owners and
everyday people who kept persevering at
their goal until it was eventually
achieved. The book Carrie by Stephen
King was rejected 30 times before it got
published! Colonel Sanders (creator of
KFC) didn’t start his dream until he was
65 years old and then had to bare
rejection 1,009 times before someone
purchased his chicken.
The moral of this story? Keep going, no
matter what!
