Slings & Baby Wearing

By Brianna

Using a sling with my first baby was wonderful, it left my hands free for eating cake, sipping coffee, browsing on my phone, preparing dinner... It felt like how I imagined motherhood in my head; my baby close to me, breastfeeding whenever and being able to smell his lovely head. Using a sling with my second baby means I have my hands free to make sure the toilet paper doesn’t get unrolled, make peanut butter sandwiches, brush little teeth and sing incy-wincy “properly” (with hand actions!). It feels a lot less glamourous to me but I hope my daughter is enjoying all the closeness, and I know my son loves to be able to peep over my shoulder when we’re out and about without all of that pesky walking.

It can be overwhelming when you first begin to look at different types of carrier, from those available in Mothercare to the hundreds that appear when you search online. Going to a sling library is a fantastic way to try out lots of different slings, get information about

one you already own or just chat to other local parents about fun places to take the children with your new-found pushchair-free self!

Brianna is our new sling library lead and mummy to her 2 little ones.
