Perfect weather and race conditions greeted
47 teams for the 10th running of the Richard
Bennett Memorial Enduro at Parilla; this year
sponsored by River Murray Auto Wreckers.
Saturday saw the field split into two heats
with the Super 1650s, Performance 2WD,
SuperLites and Production 4WDs taking to
the track first for two laps of the 30km course
with the Chevara Racing’s Jeff and Jai Loader
#513 topping the time sheets.
The events naming rights sponsor Darran and
Amelia Vanderwoude unfortunately failed to
finish, overheating dramas ending their day
on lap one. Kaine Reid and Tyson Read #529
also failed to finish with fuel gremlins.
Unfotunately for Shannyn Fitzgerald and
Travis Kingham, a miscalculation in their fuel
requirements saw the #209 S&S Race Frames
machine returned to the pits under a tow
from recovery.
The second heat consisted of the Pro and ProLite buggies and the battling it out with the six
Extreme 2WD machines.
Aaron and Liz Haby clocked in the fastest outright time and the fastest lap time for the day,
34:52.809 and 17:25:129 respectively, to secure
last place on the start grid for tomorrows reverse grid handicap start.
