Inspiring alpine and valley views only become more spectacular as you gain elevation on the Rocky Mountain trails encircling Fernie. A half-day hike on Mt. Fernie is quickly rewarded with incredible scenery. For a full-day adventure, hike the ridge to Polar Peak, summit Three Sisters Mountain or take Heiko’ s Trail to Island Lake Lodge or Mt. Fernie.

For a gentler tour, community trails offer scenic nature walks and riverside running routes dotted with shaded parks, picnic spots and picture-perfect viewpoints. The Fernie Valley Pathway links the Visitor Information Centre and Maiden Lake through Annex Park to the Mount Fernie Provincial Park with 5.3km of paved, inclusive trails suitable for all users. Easy Beaver – The Adaptive Trail, located in the Montane area, is a gentle grade route for walking and biking and is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs with sturdy tyres.
