The big unknown of preseason . If the timesheets were the only thing to be considered , it could be assumed KTM were in a world of trouble . Brad Binder was 14th at the Sepang test , new signing Jack Miller 18th . But neither rider was overly fazed , and pointed to the substantial testing work that was completed as reason to be positive . They had reason to feel things would only get better . Since round one , KTM has been a revelation and is can now be considered a podium contender at most race tracks . It has improved its electronics package drastically , giving riders a much-improved feeling on corner exit . It has also found again a solid feeling with the front end . Those two factors combined have allowed its riders to brake late and deep , invaluable assets in a group fight . Another of KTM ’ s big weaknesses from last year – taking advantage of a new tyre – has been addressed . Now let ’ s see if they can start challenging Ducati regularly for race wins .
Prima che il campionato iniziasse , rappresentava un punto interrogativo . Crono alla mano , i test pre stagione avevano visto Brad Binder e Jack Miller chiudere i test di Sepang al 14 ° e 18 ° posto sulle KTM . Non si sono fatti prendere dal panico , anzi : il lavoro fatto era stato tanto , e l ’ ottimismo regnava . I piloti possono staccare tardi : un bel vantaggio , nelle gare di gruppo . Il marchio austriaco ha anche messo mano a uno dei problemi dell ’ anno scorso : la capacità di sfruttare lo pneumatico fresco . Riusciranno a mettere i bastoni fra le ruote alle Ducati in pianta stabile , candidandosi per la vittoria ?
