Bagnaia has the distinction of being the rider to end Ducati ’ s 15-year wait for the MotoGP™ Riders ’ Championship after an unprecedented comeback in 2022 from a position of 91 points back of the leader . It ’ s been an impressive recent rise for the 2018 Moto2™ World Champion , who had a tough debut season in the premier class in 2019 with Pramac Ducati . But midway through 2021 , his first year in Ducati ’ s factory team , he finally looked like the complete rider . After missing out on the title that year by 26 points , he went one place better last year thanks to a devastating run in the second half of the season .
