Bastianini was MotoGP™ ’ s breakout star in 2022 . Riding a yearold Ducati in the Gresini team , the laidback Italian racked up four wins and finished third overall , becoming just the second Satellite rider to do so since 2005 . It followed his recent upward trajectory , after he brilliantly won the Moto2™ title in 2020 , and scored two podiums on a two-year old bike in his MotoGP™ rookie season the following year . For 2023 he steps up to Ducati ’ s factory team alongside the reigning World Champion . Injury has affect him so far . Now fully fit , he ' s expected to regularly challenge for race wins .
