It could be argued no MotoGP™ rider was improved in 2022 as Luca Marini . The Italian had struggled to impact the class in his rookie year in 2021 , scoring just two top ten finishes . But come the end of last year , he was regularly contesting top six finishes and missed the target at the Sachsenring , Misano and Phillip Island . History has proved Valentino Rossi ’ s half-brother is something of a slow burner , however . He scored one race win in the Moto2™ class in 2018 and two in 2019 before contesting the title in 2020 , eventually missing out by just nine points . On that basis , he should be stronger still in 2023 .
