RED BULL
The opposition may be stronger than last year , but Red Bull remains the team to beat . The Milton Keynes outfit has won in Britain four times , with Sebastian Vettel in 2009 , Mark Webber in 2010 and 2012 and Verstappen in 2023 . The last-named also won the one-off 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in 2020 .
This hasn ’ t been a straightforward season for the team , though , with the departure of technical guru Adrian Newey and some uncertainty around Verstappen ’ s long-term future in the camp .
However , four wins in the first five races , with Australia lost to a mechanical failure , gave Verstappen some breathing space . In the face of stronger competition he has had to work harder for some of this year ’ s more recent victories , including the ones he logged in Imola , Montreal and Barcelona . In the process he ’ s demonstrated his true class .
It ’ s hard to believe that this is Verstappen ’ s 10th season in F1 ® , and yet he is still only 26 and thus with plenty of time to add to what is already a remarkable CV .
His team mate Sergio Pérez meanwhile has endured a largely frustrating season thus far . After backing up Verstappen with a run of second places in the early races , the Mexican has had a tougher time as the competition has hotted up , and he struggled badly in Monaco , Montreal and Spain . Nevertheless , his long-term future at the team is secure .
So who will take the challenge to Red Bull this weekend ? Ferrari , McLaren and Mercedes are all potential contenders if their latest updates pay off and they can hit the sweet spot for this particular track , where high-speed performance is so critical .
