This race is the 12th round of the 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship™ , and as such it represents the halfway point of what has already been an intriguing and entertaining season
The year began with a familiar pattern as we looked set for another year of domination by Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen .
However , early wins for Ferrari and McLaren and pole positions for Mercedes and McLaren have indicated that , while the Dutchman appears to be heading to his fourth consecutive title , he might not have it quite so easy over the balance of this year .
The sport ’ s relentless development race is the key to the formbook . At each race teams try to add performance through upgrades , while managing their restricted financial and aero testing resources . In the third year of the current regulations , and with even Red Bull finding it harder to eke out lap-time gains , the field is closing up .
Silverstone is the third leg of a hectic triple header that included Spain and Austria , and after this weekend teams have only a brief respite before Belgium and Hungary and then finally the summer break that allows everyone to catch their breath .
Barcelona is regarded as a good test of car packages and a reliable indicator of Silverstone form , and a closely fought race there suggested that we can expect more of the same this weekend !
