My career , since I joined Moto2 has not been super easy , overall . It was difficult to keep the spirit super high , but I ’ m a guy that really wants to stay here , to be fast and to achieve my goals and also with my staff , my friends , my family and my girlfriend , they help me a lot to keep this mentality . Sometimes it ’ s tough to say but in Moto2™ and then in MotoGP™ I was not enjoying so much because I really wanted to win . But not just to win ; to do a good job .
Mentally I just try to really work a lot on myself alone at the moment . But I really try to study a lot from podcasts , movies and series . I ’ m trying to find a way and I ’ m finding a way to be more on a high than a low . The biggest help that I have is from the people that are really close to me . They give you a big , not inspiration , a way to see things . So if you choose well the people around you then for sure you can elevate yourself .
2023 season
Last year was tough because honestly I think I can be one of the ones there . All the riders from my generation , we grew up together , and we beat each other many times . So I think I can be there . With Enea [ Bastianini ] we are friends since we were little kids . He was just giving me a lot of motivation and also he was giving me like a push instead of envy .
Because we grew up together , we did everything together , we battled many times together . If he can do it , he is good , but I can do it also . So it was the opposite to what a lot of people think . Last year I think it was not the perfect package for me . I ’ m trying to focus on riding style , on how to go faster as a rider and it ’ s much more enjoyable . I think it ’ s just a matter of time . We are building . This year is like my rookie year , let ’ s say . With Frankie [ Carchedi ] we are taking it like a rookie year . I ’ m learning many things and many skills also , that last year I wasn ’ t learning throughout the year . On the bike there are not big differences but about how we put the bike ’ s set up , electronic side … It ’ s really different . Because Franke came and said , ‘ Okay , remove last year and let ’ s start from zero and start in a completely new way .’ We are coming , we are not so far as it looks .
Fabio ’ s target
The realistic goal with the potential that we have is to be easily in the Top10 . But the goal is to achieve podiums . I would love to start winning with this team and I would love to put my name on the list of winners of this team . And then in the future why not on a factory bike . I think in MotoGP™ to try to win as many Championships as possible or a Championship , you need to have the best . And the best is a factory bike , so why not in the future .
