Fernandez is MotoGP™ ’ s sole rookie in 2023 courtesy of a string of outstanding performances in Moto2™ last year . The Spaniard held his nerve in a tense title showdown at Valencia to step up to the Tech3 GASGAS squad as Moto2™ World Champion . Fernandez has had an unconventional path to the premier class , entering Moto2™ in 2017 after previously showing speed in the European Superstock 600 class and the European Moto2™ series . He scored a total of seven wins and 20 podiums across four full seasons in the intermediate class . Now the aim is to replicate that consistency in MotoGP™ .

Fernandez is de enige debutant in de MotoGP™ in 2023 dankzij een reeks uitstekende prestaties in de Moto2™ van vorig jaar . De Mallorcaan hield zijn zenuwen in bedwang tijdens een spannende ontknoping van de titelstrijd in Valencia om over te stappen naar het Tech3 GASGAS-team als Moto2™-wereldkampioen . De Mallorcaan heeft een onconventioneel pad gevolgd naar de koningsklasse en betrad Moto2™ in 2017 nadat hij eerder zijn snelheid had getoond in de Europese Superstock 600-klasse en de Europese Moto2™-serie . Hij behaalde in totaal zeven overwinningen en twintig podiumplaatsen gedurende vier volle seizoenen in de tussenklasse . Het doel is nu om die consistentie in MotoGP™ voort te zetten .
