Bastianini was MotoGP™ ’ s breakout star in 2022 . Riding a year-old Ducati in the Gresini team , the laidback Italian racked up four wins and finished third overall , becoming just the second Satellite rider to do so since 2005 . It followed his recent upward trajectory , after he brilliantly won the Moto2™ title in 2020 , and scored two podiums on a two-year old bike in his MotoGP™ rookie season the following year . For 2023 he steps up to Ducati ’ s factory team alongside the reigning World Champion , where it is expected he will challenge regularly for race wins and , possibly , the championship .

Voor 2023 stapt hij over naar Ducati ' s fabrieksteam naast de regerend wereldkampioen , waar hij naar verwachting regelmatig zal strijden voor raceoverwinningen en mogelijk het kampioenschap .
