Grimz . The group called themselves Kativ this time period is when Azrael would give the name Choxen to the young emcee . and they began to call the city they lived in Jax City . Chox would eventually loose touch with his partners . Both his partners did time in prison / jail . Chox continued to make music and the trio reunited a few years later . They began to work on new material with BSR . Chox would again loose touch with his partners and began to work on his own music . Chox would eventually link back up with Guv Grimz and a few other emcees and a band and formed the label Jax City Ent . Chox began to finally surface on the Jacksonville local scene with partner Guv Grimz at his side and Realistic Minds . Chox-Mak , pronounced Chose Mak , was born in Cleavland Ohio Sept 11,1984 . The youngest of four children Chox was always influenced by his older siblings . In the late 80s early and 90s Chox began to be more influenced by the hip hop culture as he was growin up . He was gettin to the age where children learn alot by their surroundings and hip hop was always surrounding Chox . His Father whom served in the military moved the family to Okinawa Japan where Chox fell in love with the art of hip hop winning countless dance contest with a very close friend Chox found his passion . Chox and his family moved back to the states in 1991 to Beaufort South Carolina it was there that Chox would write his first rhyme at the young age of 9 and take his first rap name Black ICE . Chox ' biggest influence his brother Donovan aka D . Trump started to have run ins with the law and eventually was incarcerated before the family moved back to N . C . the home of Chox ' parents . After a brief stay Chox and his family would move to Jacksonville from Williamston N . C . Chox was still writing and perfecting his penmanship but still had not taken music seriously yet and was not able to . Chox ' parents being devout christians shunned the lyrics Chox came up with his father would throw away lyrics and punish Chox for writing some of the material . But that didnt stop Chox he would continue to hone his skills . At the age of 16 Chox recorded his first track with Lyricalist and joined the group Arkade with his brother , at this time he was none as Xeno ( zino ). Chox began to record more and more , battle at the local skating rink , and at school . At the age of 18 put together a mixtape with his brother Anthony aka Azrael and Selah Sabali then known as Guv after Chox would link with Dj Prince and put together a mixtape called the Takedown . Chox always put projects out with other people but it was finally time for him to step out on his own . in 2010 Chox released his first solo mixtape and hasnt looked back since . He has continued to ride with his family Jax City but has made his own moves linkin and securing a roster spot with Bunty Beats Mixkings Records label in Glasgow Scotland . Chox has been affiliated with over 5 different groups and is now affiliated with SDYP ( skeet day young poet ) ,# tCs ( teamCLOUDsurfer ),# IGOD ( imani gang or die ), Oil Spill Ent and The Fakulte Music Group . Chox is also a representative of Hip Hop Vibe one of the fastest growing websites for hip hop . Chox has been on over 30 mixtapes in the past 2 years , has over 3,000 downloads and over 10,000 plays on his music online . Chox has also had his music played on many internet radio stations and had an interview on one the biggest hip hop radio stationsin Eastern North Carolina Coast 97.3 . Chox has also opened up for La Da Boom Man , Immortal Technique , Styles P , Curren $ y , Fiend , Young Roddy , TradeMark , and Skinny Deville and Fishscales of Nappy Roots to name a few .
