Six years after moving to Delano and purchasing
Janzen’s Auto Body, Harwood’s Body Shop has been
named the Business of the Year by the Delano Area
Chamber of Commerce.
The award was announced at the DACC gen-
eral meeting Thursday and will be presented at the
DACC Celebration Dinner Saturday, April 4, at the
Delano American Legion.
Two different nominators had a lot to say about
the business.
“I would nominate them because they provide
outstanding service to the community, you are al-
ways greeted with a smile, and they give you fair
and honest assessments for your vehicle, and per-
form high quality work,” one nominator wrote.
The other nominator said that the business provides
consistent and reputable services and recommends
other Chamber members.
Both nominators mentioned that the business is ex-
panding to an adjacent property.
Both nominators noted that Harwood’s employ-
ees are active in the community, including with the
Chamber.

Owner Michelle Harwood is past president of the
Chamber, and the business supports the organiza-
tion in a number of ways, including participation
and sponsorship of events and donations of auction
items for the Chamber celebration.
The business added a large electronic sign that is
used not only to promote the business but also ad-
vertise community events.
“Harwood’s embodies all of the criteria for the
DACC Business of the Year,” a nominator conclud-
ed.
