1997 to start an endowment for the Delano area. Its mission is
to enhance the quality of life for the Delano are community
through grants and initiatives. It offers an excellent opportunity
for any person to make lasting contributions to the Delano
area, both as a board member or a donor. Donations are

our lifetime passion for the people and community of Delano.
Its donors are as varied as the community it serves.
Led by president, Sarah Hellmich, the foundation meets
three to four times a year. It awards financial grants to
501(c)(3) organizations with projects to make Delano a

Delano Area Council for Arts and Culture
Delano Area Council for Arts and Culture began in 2009
to promote collaboration and provide support to other
community arts and cultural organizations. Its Mission is:
Empower people to think, work and live creatively through
arts and cultural experiences. It provides art and cultural
events for all ages.
A major annual event is Delano Old-Fashioned Christmas.
It is a day filled with arts and crafts, musical performances,
drama, and food. An outdoor market and boutiques located
in the downtown area help support local organizations,
artisans, local restaurants, and small home based businesses.
With activities for all ages, this event brings the community
together to kick off the Christmas season.
The City of Delano and the Arts Council established the
Highway 12 Sculpture Park in May 2007. The Arts Council
is actively looking for local artists to submit proposals for
additional sculptures.
The DACAC supports the Delano Community Band, which
performs concerts around town, including at the 4th of July
celebration. Anyone who has ever played an instrument and
would like to get started again is invited to join the band. For
information on how to join the band or support the band,
visit the website at delanocommunityband.org or visit the
Delano Community Band facebook page.
The Sidewalk Art contest is organized and staffed by Arts
Council members for Delano’s 4th of July Family Day.
“Spark Art” is a project to recognize local artists and bring
art to the downtown area, sponsored by the Delano Park
and Recreation Commission and the Arts Council.
The Arts Council is always looking for new members.
Members don’t have to be artists, but just need to appreciate
the value that the arts has on the community. Anyone
interested in joining the council or helping with events should
contact Deb DeBeer at 612-636-3618 or Sarah Hellmich at 763-
226-1799. Visit the Delano Area Council for Arts and Culture
Facebook for current community art and cultural events or
go to the website, delanomnarts.org. Watch for new events,
