the areas of western Hennepin, Wright, and northern Carver
counties.
Meetings are generally the third Thursday of the month at 6:30
p.m., with approximately seven meetings per year; no December,
January or February meetings. Meeting dates, times, and locations
may change depending on events and opportunities. Meetings

projects, garden tours, an annual dinner, and a holiday party. One
to two meetings per year are open to the public.
The club currently has approximately 30 members, and Sue
Palmer is president.
Individual membership dues are $15 per year and are pro-rated
for one-half of the year.
The purpose of the organization is to provide a variety of
gardening-related educational programs; plant, install, and assist
in maintaining local community plantings to enhance the beauty
of cities, towns, parks, and open spaces; raise awareness and funds
for community garden programs and efforts; and provide a social
environment where individuals interested in gardening can meet
and exchange ideas.
The Garden Club maintains the Lions Memorial and other
landscaping along River Street near the Crow River in downtown
Delano. The club was also integral in starting the Delano Community
Garden in 2009.
Special events or projects include the BWGC plant sale in May,
which takes place the third Saturday, and the annual garden tour
in August. Both are for the community at large.

Bit & Spurs Saddle Club
The Bit & Spurs Saddle Club was founded in Hamel about 35 years
ago, to learn from each other as a group with their horses. The club
consists of about 50 families from areas as far away as Wisconsin,
but who live primarily in the western suburbs of Minneapolis.
The club is a member of the National Saddle Club Association
(NSCA), as well as the Western Saddle Club Association (WSCA).
During the season, the club hosts several closed shows (for members
only). This is a great opportunity for families who are new to horses
to learn from others, have fun riding, and meet new friends.
If anyone is interested in joining, or for more information, call
President Kayleigh Gray at 763-245-9368 or visit www.mnomoksee.
