Cherry Hill, a Philadelphia suburb, is known for its shopping and fine dining. Shopping not your thing? Take the kids to the Garden State Discovery Museum, a please-touch museum dedicated to artistic and scientific hands-on play.

Visit Historic Croft Farm for entertainment. This 1753 farmhouse, started life as a working mill and farm, later becoming a stop on the Underground Railroad. Today, its 80 acres have been transformed into a regional arts center, hosting performances by the Cherry Hill Orchestra, dance troupes and musicians.

History comes alive at the Barclay Farmstead. Visitors are welcome for tours of the restored Federal-style farmhouse, featuring period furnishings, clothing, textiles and more. Listed on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places, the 32-acre property reflects the Quaker and agrarian lifestyle that dominated the South Jersey landscape in the early 19th century.

Visit the small town of Collingswood. Home to the resting place of Walt Whitman, this thriving community was designated by the American Planning Association as one of its 10 Great Streets in 2009. With over 20 restaurants, a bountiful Farmers Market each summer, annual Book, Arts, and Green Festivals, historical sites and renowned artists, there is much to offer.

Collingswood has several historic homes including the 1820s-era house of the Collings family, known as the Collings-Knight house. The Stokes-Lees Mansion dates back to 1707, making it one of the oldest houses in Camden County.

Evening: The borough is also home to two theater companies, the Collingswood Community Theatre and the Collingswood Shakespeare Company which perform throughout the year. The Ritz Theatre in nearby Haddon Township, is known for its children’s productions and Broadway musicals.
