3. There is no limit to the number of times a person may be granted an Apprentice Judge’s card. He/she shall be given a set of AMHA Judge’s cards to evaluate the various entries but shall have no authority as to the merits of the competitors. 4. A  pprentice Judges shall in no way interfere with the duties of the Senior or Approved Judge, nor delay the progress of the show. He/she shall insure that the show management makes clear to the competitors that he/ she is there to learn from the Senior or Approved Judge, and that he/she is evaluating them only for his/her own benefit. Apprentice Judges may confer with the Senior or Approved Judge only after the Senior or Approved Judge has turned in his card for each class, and before the gate is opened for the next class to enter the ring. Ref: GR-030-D for “Regulations Governing Judges” LO-030 PROCEDURES FOR ENROLLMENT A.  Application must be made on the official form and accompanied by the required fee. If the application is rejected, the fee will not be refunded. All applications must 73 LOC 5. Apprentice Judges may apply for promotion to Approved Judge upon meeting the following requirements: a.  Must have worked with three different AMHA “Approved” judges, one of which must be a Senior judge at three (3) or more different AMHA-sanctioned shows. (An Approved judge is one that has judged at three (3) different AMHA-sanctioned shows). b. Apprentice Judges may not apprentice with a Judge that has been announced as serving on an upcoming AMHA Championship or World Championship Show. (Amended 06-06, effective 01-07) c. Apprentice Judges are required to attend and successfully complete an AMHA judging clinic within twelve (12) months after the completed application is received in the AMHA office. (Amended 6-11-05, effective 1-06). d. AMHA LOC or designee must have all six (6) Letters of Recommendation completed in full and contained in LOC judge’s file prior to consideration of promotion to Approved Judge. (Amended 06-06, effective 01-07) e. Apprentice Judges must apply for Approved Judge status within one year of completing all requirements. f.  Must meet any other requirements of the Licensed Official Committee at the time of application. 6.  The necessity of giving opportunity to Apprentice Judges to officiate with judges of experience in the show ring is urged upon all AMHA-sanctioned competitions and competitors as an important and cooperative duty.
