RULES & REGULATIONS
184 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
Applicant must complete, sign and submit proper AMHA
registration application forms, with four color unaltered
photographs of the horse taken in accordance with requirements
on the form, to the Association’s Registrar. Beginning January 1,
2014 only offspring of two (2) AMHA registered horses shall be
eligible for registration. The AMHA shall have the right to require
parent qualification by DNA of any horse whose parentage is in
question. (Amended 02-08, effective 01-09)
184A Responsibility
1. All stallions bred to five (5) or more mares in a calendar
year must be blood typed and/or DNA tested before
any resulting foals or foals from future breeding will be
considered for registration. No foals born after December
31, 1994, will be registered until this requirement is met.
After the blood typing or DNA test results are on file with
AMHA, the stallion is not required to be tested again.
2. All foals born after December 31, 1995, must be DNA
tested or blood typed prior to registration of their
offspring.
3. Any horse born after 2005 that is DNA tested shall be
Parent Qualified if both parents have been DNA tested.
4. The owner of record or lessee of record of the dam at
time of foaling is responsible for registration of the foal
with the exception of embryo transfer. (See 192C Embryo
Transfer). If a foal is to be listed in an individual’s name
other than the owner or lessee of the dam at time of
foaling, then a transfer report and fee shall be required. If
the owner/lessee of the dam at time of foaling fails to take
responsibility for registering the foal, the owner/lessee
forfeits the right to name the offspring.
