YD-000 YOUTH DIVISION YD-010 REQUIREMENTS All show rules apply to the Youth Division except where specifically modified in the passages below regarding the Youth Division. All youth must have a current AMHyA membership card. The AMHyA, a division of AMHA, will keep a Youth Directory of the youth app lying to the Association. Application forms will be available from the AMHA office. The youth will receive a special packet including an AMHA Rule Book, AMHyA identification card, biography form and other materials which promote youth participation in AMHyA. (Amended 02-20-04, effective 01-05) (Amended 6-13-04, effective 01-05) A. Age requirements In no case shall any contestant be more than 18 years old on January 1 of that show year. A child’s age shall be determined by the age on January 1st and will show at that age for that calendar year. (Amended 02-06, effective 0107) 143 SHOW RULES B. Splitting or combining of age groups The following age groupings are those recognized by the AMHA for youth classes: 1. 18 years and under 2. 12 years and under, and 13 to 18 years 3. 7 years and under, 8 to 12 years, and 13 to 18 years 4. Youth 7 & Under Pleasure Driving shall be offered as one class. One style of driving is to be demonstrated: SinglePleasure, Country Pleasure or Classic Pleasure. Horse will be judged according to the style in which it is being driven. This class is not a qualifer for Grand Championship classes at any AMHA approved show. (Amended 1-13, effective 1-14) 5. For the youth halter classes, Youth Exhibiting Mares and Youth Exhibiting Geldings, the age groupings in 2 or 3 above must be offered. 6.  For Youth Showmanship, the age groupings in 3 above must be offered. In Youth Showmanship 7 years and under only pattern No. 1 is to be used. 7.  Youth Special Needs Classes are open to Special Needs youth 18 years and under showing mares or geldings. All accepted youth rules to apply. Standard age divisions will not apply. In Youth Special Needs Showmanship 18 and under, only pattern No. 1 is to be used. 8. The above listed splits for youth classes by age may or may not be available for each individual class.
