SHOW RULES
CL-075 OTHER PERFORMANCE CLASSES
A. Costume classes are to be judged 75 percent on originality
of costume and 25 percent on presentation. To be shown at a
walk both ways of the arena.
Classes may be offered as follows:
1. Youth costume (Youth only, 18 years & younger)
(1 to 3 exhibitors and 1 to 3 horses)
2. Adult costume (19 years & older)
(1 to 3 exhibitors and 1 to 3 horses)
3. Group Costume (any age exhibitor with two (2) or
more exhibitors) (Amended 12-8-01, effective 01-02)

B.
Other performance classes may be offered as interest
warrants. Some of the other approved AMHA performance
classes are:
* 1. Adult Showmanship (exhibitor 19 years old or older)
* 2. Golden Showmanship (male or female exhibitor 50
years old or older) (For classes 1 & 2 see CL-080 for
Showmanship Rules)
* 3. Roadster race
4. Jump-off (one jump, raised until only one horse clears)
5. Children’s Leadline
Criteria: horses to be exhibited under saddle by a youth
seven (7) years and under, while being led by an adult
or another youth 13 and over. Exhibitor to use either
Western or English attire and tack, but it must match
and be appropriate. Judges must give consideration to
how appropriately the size of the exhibitor fits the size
of their mount. Judges should evaluate the rider’s ability
to exhibit the horse and the rider’s position and posture
in the saddle. Horses are to be judged both ways of the
arena at a walk in a circle around the judge (and then be
lined-up in the center of the arena for inspection.) Horses
should stand quietly and back readily on command.

to a two (2) wheeled cart without basket. Refer to CL040 A. Judged on speed, completion of pattern and
maintenance of gait. Timed event.
