tendency on the part of the driver to shout, whistle, or
talk loudly to the horse should be curtailed. In the arena,
the less said the better. The driver should strive to control
the horse’s movements with minimal vocal aids.
I.
In the absence of an adequate* warm-up arena, it is
mandatory that a warm-up period of at least five (5) minutes
be provided before the first driving class of each grouping of
driving classes in the schedule, each day of the show. (Not
required for shows granted Hardship Approval).
*Adequate is defined as: Firm packed footing, perimeter
fenced, large enough to simulate a driving arena, free from
all obstacles, safe for exhibitors.

J. Harness championships are limited to first and second place
winners from classes in that division and may be worked off
at the discretion and direction of the judge until a Grand
and Reserve Champion are selected. Any horse competing is
eligible to be Grand or Reserve.
K. When using a leverage bit (Gig, Liverpool, Buxton, etc.)
shown below are the acceptable rein positions, excluding
the multiple hitch classes. Unacceptable rein position is a
disqualification for the class. Martingales are prohibited
with leverage bits.
