Meet Tim Paul (Team Member) Officeworks Pakenham (Vic) Tim joined the Officeworks family just over a year ago. He had been working with Centrelink to find a job for just over a month when MEGT reached out via his Centrelink contact. Only a couple of weeks later, Tim met with Brad Pickard, Store Business Manager at Officeworks Pakenham and subsequently started his career with Officeworks. Tim’s experience with MEGT was very positive. The case worker was great - very receptive to Tim’s interests and supportive of his choices. She provided him with several options, among others casual and part-time job and suitable courses. Throughout the first six-months of his employment, she kept in close contact to make sure he was doing well and able to flourish in his new role. when I started I was pretty clueless. The managers here have been very supportive. They gave me comprehensive training, initially in Print & Copy but I’ve also had a opportunity to work in technology, replenishment and POS. I’m now back in Print and Copy and it’s amazing. I can’t imagine being anywhere else,” says Tim. As Tim demonstrated the value he brings to the team, the SLT offered him a part-time position and he has even had opportunities to backfill for full time team members when they go on leave. Not only did he make it past that crucial six-month mark, but he has grown to become an integral part of the Officeworks Pakenham team.   In the year since joining Officeworks, Tim’s has significantly developed his skills. “This is my first job, and Leading the way on diversity Officeworks is working with a number of organisations to achieve and sustain our 3% Indigenous team member target. While we have previously met the target, turnover can be high and as a result we closed September 2018 on 2.8%.  We need to look at multiple ways to achieve our goals including partnering with Indigenous suppliers through Supply Nation and by providing support for new Indigenous team members with the help of our recruiting partners AFL Sportsready and Clontarf. 15
