Meet Tim Paul (Team Member)
Officeworks Pakenham (Vic)
Tim joined the Officeworks family
just over a year ago. He had
been working with Centrelink to
find a job for just over a month
when MEGT reached out via his
Centrelink contact. Only a couple
of weeks later, Tim met with Brad
Pickard, Store Business Manager
at Officeworks Pakenham and
subsequently started his career
with Officeworks.
Tim’s experience with MEGT was
very positive. The case worker
was great - very receptive to Tim’s
interests and supportive of his
choices. She provided him with
several options, among others
casual and part-time job and
suitable courses. Throughout the
first six-months of his employment,
she kept in close contact to make
sure he was doing well and able to
flourish in his new role.
when I started I was pretty clueless.
The managers here have been
very supportive. They gave me
comprehensive training, initially
in Print & Copy but I’ve also had a
opportunity to work in technology,
replenishment and POS. I’m now
back in Print and Copy and it’s
amazing. I can’t imagine being
anywhere else,” says Tim.
As Tim demonstrated the value he
brings to the team, the SLT offered
him a part-time position and he has
even had opportunities to backfill for
full time team members when they
go on leave.

In short, Tim is an MEGT success story.
Not only did he make it
past that crucial six-month mark,
but he has grown to become an
integral part of the Officeworks
Pakenham team.
In the year since joining Officeworks,
Tim’s has significantly developed
his skills. “This is my first job, and
Leading the way on diversity
Officeworks is working with a number of organisations to achieve
and sustain our 3% Indigenous team member target. While we have
previously met the target, turnover can be high and as a result we closed
September 2018 on 2.8%. We need to look at multiple ways to achieve
our goals including partnering with Indigenous suppliers through Supply
Nation and by providing support for new Indigenous team members with
the help of our recruiting partners AFL Sportsready and Clontarf.
