Local Community Involvement Officeworks Mildura (Vic) secures talented Team Member with the help of Clontarf Matt Raymond (Store Business Manager) at Officeworks Mildura has appointed a new team member Cohen Tatchell as a result of Officeworks continued involvement with the Clontarf Foundation. Clontarf worked closely with the Mildura team to develop a work experience program to give local indigenous youth the opportunity to understand what is required to secure employment. Three boys participated in the program, with Matt and the Mildura team giving them customer service training, a full store orientation, history of Officeworks, insight into our environmental focus through the Positive Difference Plan and Safety FIRST training. ‘This program creates more opportunities than just community involvement with the boys, in fact it helps our existing team members be the best they can be and become potential future leaders within Officeworks’ said Matt. As the program ended, Matt offered Cohen a permanent casual position as he demonstrated great engagement with team members and was able to quickly learn and retain information. Developing Cohen’s skills has really bonded the Mildura team as everyone pitched in, which in turn has also refined and improved their skills. ‘All team members and store leadership team have helped train Cohen. Although he is new, he is an outstanding team member,’ said Matt. Local Community Involvement O-Week university challenge matching up all products. This game focused on students’ agility and recall. The activity brought the classic Memory game to life while showcasing our widest range. Over 30 days, 14,314 students from different universities participated in the game. All competitors received a participation prize, with the fastest student in each state eligible to win a major prize to help them get Back to Uni-ready. Through the activity, we have connected with over 14,000 students who we can now keep in touch with throughout the year. During February and March, Officeworks team members hosted O-Week activities at 24 universities across Australia. As part of these activities, students were invited to participate in our ‘Lock in the Best Stuff’ competition which featured some of our latest and greatest products. The challenge was to open the locker doors the fastest while 30 ‘The objective of our annual O-Week initiatives is to build long-lasting partnerships with students and maintain our position as the one-stop-shop for university supplies,’ said Chloe Carlyon-Lewis (Local Area Marketing Coordinator). O-Week is just one of the many ways Officeworks engages with the local community to support education and development.
