Dawley •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• INTRODUCTION The CommUniversity Assistant Program enriches the University of Oregon off-campus student experience and enhances neighborhood livability by empowering and serving students with student-centered programming, resources, and opportunities. CommUn CommUniversity Assistants (CAs) are driven by the belief that a great community is essential to a great off-campus student experience. Through proactive leadership, effective collaboration, and intentional service, CAs seek to create a community centered on student success with a high quality of life and citizens. responsible citizen CAs serve and empower in order to play our role in the virtuous cycle of giving back and building community. CAs develop projects, programs and events which relate to substance abuse prevention and off-campus student services such as finding housing and difficulties with landlords. CAs work 20 hrs/ month and receive a monthly o stipend of $100. Throughout the year, CAs interact and collaborate with many members of the community including students, UO staff, UOPD, EPD, and off-campus neighbors. CAs have developed, implemented and evaluated several de events such as the UO Housing Fair, Day of Service and Duck Donation Day. CAs also participate in neighborhood outreach activities and neighborhood association meetings.
