CHAPTER 5: SYSTEM OUTPUT

Student Performance on National Examinations and External Exams

The following section reports on student performance on various assessments at the national and regional levels. It must be noted that at the primary level, there are variations across the Member States in the way in which pupils are assessed and assigned to secondary institutions. At the secondary level however, most of the Member States rely on the Caribbean Secondary Examinations Certificate as the measure to be utilised for matriculation to higher education or entry into the world of work. One of the main measures used to determine the performance of a cohort of pupils is the number of persons who passed five (5) or more subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English Language.
