During Your Party: Check IDs at the door. Keep music and noise at a reasonable level to be a good neighbor and community member. Have at least one Sober Host who can help if problems arise. Have someone periodically assess the parking situation. Make sure your guests are not blocking driveways and are parking so that emergency vehicles can access the area. Keep your guests inside your house or the backyard, if that is an appropriate space. If your guests are spilling out on your front lawn or into the street, you probably have too many people at your gathering. Watch for intoxicated guests and arrange a safe ride home for those who shouldn’t be on the roads. After the Party: Keep your neighborhood beautiful by cleaning up all garbage, cups and cans after the party. Talk to your neighbors to see if there were any issues. What if I have unauthorized guests? Unauthorized guests can pose a safety risk to your gathering. At the very least, they increase the number of people at your gathering, which may contribute to noise levels and other issues. Denying entry to unauthorized guests could put you in a bad position. The best way to handle this problem is to message the ODU police department through your LiveSafe App on your phone. The ODU officers will address the unauthorized guests when they arrive.
