Living Off-Campus
ODU has a long-standing relationship with the neighborhoods surrounding
campus. As more and more students move into these neighborhoods, we want
to ensure that our students are good neighbors to the long-term residents of
these communities. Your conduct off-campus matters and can reflect positively
or negatively on the university.
Make it a priority to take some simple steps to be a good neighbor:
•Talk to your neighbors when you first move in
•Manage your trash, and keep your property debris-free
•If you have a social gathering, make sure that your guests’ cars
are not blocking the path for emergency vehicles, and
consider saving some spaces for your neighbors' cars
•If you have a social gathering, keep the music and noise at
reasonable levels
•Keep an eye open for crime in the area. Report suspicious
behavior to the ODU police through the LiveSafe App
•Use the Party Smart resources and register your off-campus
party. For more information, visit odu.edu/life/dean-students/
