Roommate Agreement
Need a roommate to reduce rent and utilities costs?
You are not alone. Many ODU students choose to have one or multiple roommates to
defray the cost of living off-campus.
Whether you have known your prospective roommate for a long time or you
have just met your roommate, taking the time to set some expectations ahead of
moving in will save you some headaches while living together. The best way to set
those expectations is by meeting, discussing your expectations, and putting those
expectations in writing.
After you have made your roommate agreement, feel free to revisit any topic or
to modify the roommate agreement to cover other topics particular to you and
your roommate(s).
The Off-Campus Student Life Office offers help with creating a roommate
agreement. Print off a roommate agreement from our website to fill out or
schedule a “Coffee & Chat” roommate conference in our office. During the
Coffee and Chat, a community ambassador from our office will walk you and
your roommate through a roommate agreement and help you draft your own.
