hen we first met Thomas (Dylan O’Brien – The Internship) in The Maze Runner, he was trapped in a maze, with no memory of how he got there, and just a group of other boys to help him. This time, Thomas and his crew of fellow Gladers are out, free of the maze, but with a new set of obstacles to overcome. Based on the second book in the hugely popular Young Adult series by James Dashner , they need to cross a desolate, post-apocalyptic landscape filled with unimaginable horrors, and known ominously as the Scorch. But that’s not the only thing standing in their way, as they also need to to find clues about the shadowy organisation known as WCKD who trapped them in the maze to begin with. The Gladers team up with a group of resistance fighters along the way to take on WCKD’s superior forces, and discover a shocking plan for everyone concerned… You may have thought that the Gladers would be able to stop running now that they’re free of the maze, but that’s not quite the case, it seems... “I didn’t think it would be more running, but it is, funnily enough,” O’Brien told MTV News. “It’s running everywhere; it’s running away from things, up sand dunes.” But he also insisted it was fun and that he wouldn’t have it any other way. Although based on the book series, this film doesn’t stick strictly to every detail, so even die-hard fans of the novels will be in for shocks and surprises to keep them on edge of their seats. “We strayed a little from the book, so I hope the fans are cool because we still have plenty from the book in there,” O’Brien admits. Director Wes Ball (Ruin) knows exactly what everyone’s in for, saying that the characters are out of the frying pan and into the fire this time around: “Their adventures are just beginning.” So strap yourselves in! “Their adventures are just beginning” - Wes Ball, director odeon.co.uk 17 PHOTOS: © 2015 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation MAZE RUNNER: the SCORCH TRIALS See it from 11 September
